Mixtape 2008

Tertullian asked the famous question, “What has Athens to do with Jerusalem?” In other words, what does secular culture have to do with Christian culture? The short answer is that all truth is God’s truth, and the answers to some of this life’s toughest questions can be found in the lyrics of today’s most infectious rock anthems.
Hear me now and believe me later… If you only join us for two sermon series this year, Mixtape in September and Ghost Stories in October are the two you should join us for! We’ll talk more about Ghost Stories in a few weeks, but here’s why you shouldn’t miss Mixtape: Not only is it a very cool concept (which we lovingly ripped off from LifeChurch), but you get to hear Michael (lead pastor) wail his way through some wickedly funny and slightly terrible renditions of some of your favorite pop and rock songs of the summer!
The song list is top secret, but trust me… You’ll enjoy not only terrible singing, but the revealing spiritual truths behind each song. Music has a way of speaking to us in ways no other medium can… at the very least and maybe without even knowing it, the lyrics of these songs point us toward truth… they really are pop-culture parables.
