Faith
Faith (Belief)
What is faith? I guess at its root, it’s trust. When we talk about “our faith,” what we’re really talking about is that we trust God with our life and everything connected to it. At Emmaus, we’re endeavoring to be intentional about our faith, our trust in God. We’re attempting to trust God on purpose to love us, to lead us and to redeem us even though sometimes it’s hard to do.
We believe that our faith, even if somewhat different in the details, should bring us together. We place a very high value on genuine community with one another. We are all part of the community of faith and as such we try to be people who are real and approachable and honest.
Faith, at least for us, is a process; it’s a journey and even though we walk together, we value the uniqueness of each person’s faith journey. We’re not ready to say that we’ve got God figured out or have really understood him very much at all, on the contrary, the more we experience God, the more we learn about him the bigger and more vast he becomes. One thing we’re sure of is that God loves us with a love that is passed finding out, a love we really can’t get our minds around, and we’re doing our very best to love him back, to trust him completely, to live the way of Jesus… to have faith.
